When I first heard there would be a movie related to Cystic Fibrosis I was excited to see how they would tell the story of 70,000+ of us who live with this illness everyday. Here I will review the movie 5 Feet Apart from the perspective of a CF patient. As you know if you saw the movie, the movie’s main characters are a boy (Will) and girl (Stella) who are living in the hospital full time. Stella is waiting for a double lung transplant while Will is in a clinical trial to combat his B. cepacia.
I want to share with the CF Bridge of Hope an event that we are carrying out to raise funds for Fundafiq, Fundación de Fibrosis Quística de Ecuador (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Ecuador).
In previous years we have done individual races, but now we have joined with 3 more foundations of the city of Cuenca to reach out to as many participants as possible.
Sarah is both a patient and an enthusiastic supporter of the CF Bridge of Hope and shows how she accepts no limitations in living her life with Cystic Fibrosis. Watch as she reaches to the sky to test her will and overcome any trepidation and, in the process, experiences what is hidden from many.
The First International Cystic Fibrosis Conference in Ecuador took place on April 3 – 5 in Cuenca. Dr. Sadeghi was the plenary speaker. Drs. Sadeghi and Raissi attended representing the United States. Also in attendance were leading medical professionals from Spain, Mexico, Peru and Ecuador.
